All Doors Lead to Mental Health Care at UMD

Knowing what kind of support you need, where to find that support and how to ask for it can feel overwhelming when you are struggling with a mental health concern. 

 

UMD has trained counselors and doctors who specialize in helping students and are committed to matching your needs with the appropriate care and resources. Use the following resources to help you identify next steps.

Call the Counseling Center at (301) 314-7651. Here's what you need to know:

  • The Counseling Center is the primary provider of psychological and consultation services.
  • All services offered are free and confidential.
  • The Counseling Center provides services like individual therapy, group therapy, crisis intervention and workshops.

Call Behavioral Health Services at (301) 314-8106. Here's what you need to know:


Call CARE to Stop Violence at the University Health Center at (301) 314-2222. Here's what you need to know:

  • CARE provides services for issues of sexual and relationship violence.
  • All services offered are confidential.

If you're still unsure, take an online, anonymous mental health assessment.

  • Please note that this self-assessment is NOT designed to make a diagnosis of a mental health condition and that it is NOT intended to provide you with clinical guidance.
  • If you receive a positive result at the end of the self-assessment, please call the Counseling Center (301-314-7651) or Behavioral Health Services (301-314-8106) for an appointment and mention that you screened positive on the online self assessment.
